Removing 'Preserve Nature' Emblem/sticker
« on: August 22, 2018, 12:19:43 PM »
I have a really nice original paint ,  Varnish Blue tank but the 'Preserve Nature' sticker is faded and tatty. I don't believe they were clear coated over. Anyone successfully removed one without damaging the paint?  Thinking that isopropanol solvent or heat from a hairdryer may be the answer. But before I experiment, has anyone done it already?

You can get a product called "Apeel" from pharmacies, I've used it to remove really sticky medical dressings, and all the sticky residue just wipes off the skin. Also used it to remove stuck on price tags from book covers with no damage or sticky residue. So certainly worth a try, if it's safe on skin and around open wounds it should be fine with paint!
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

Zoff does the same thing Hairy and as you say, it really works well. I have used Zoff to remove stickers on bikes and it has never damaged the paintwork, in fact, most of the stickers come of so intact, you can use them again if needed.

A hair dryer will soften the adhesive making it easier to remove the sticker.

That's what I used after I stuck in the wrong place.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?
