Back brake deflection shaft

Hi guys, on the CB500 is the back brake deflection shaft painted do you know? The one on mine is painted with quarter inch thick black Hammerite  :(

May be wrong,  but I thought all of them were zinc (or looking like cadmium) possibly yellowish tint plated originally.

I think you are right. I think most Japanese bikes were back then but this one is so caked in Hammerite ‘dip’ I just couldn’t picture it.

This part is unpainted on my 1974 UK spec CB500K1.
