But, you also see gold with gold, I think it was whatever the person who fitted them at the factory laid his hands on first. I have seen photos of new CB750's with both colours fitted.

CMS list the K1 as red and K2 as gold.

Nope, totally wrong.
.
Can you put a pic of the right one up please then for future ref. As this guide seems to differ. http://honda750expert.com/
Blimey, whoever that chap is on that website knows how to blow his own trumpets !!! That article is full of crap and glaring errors.

Isn't that The England light and not the one fit on USA models.
Do you know something Moorey, I'm not sure. But, I am sure I have seen the more rounded type on USA bikes. We need Peter and Mick, who both have USA K1's to let us know what they have fitted and then find someone with a UK K1 to see what's on theirs. The only person I know with a UK K1 is Paul Gledhill but I'm not sure if he had a rear light in all the boxes of bits he got with his restoration project. A UK K1 is a very, very rare bike, so there's not many around to compare with.

Julie, not sure if you mean me but my 750 is a K2 with the f*@k off massive rear light so no help here.

Here's Mick's rear light which I believe is a K1 but unsure if it's an import or UK model, sorry.

When you look through the parts lists the one for sale has the correct rear light for USA and other models other than England Germany and Holland. Your pic would seem to be for England only. The German and Holland lights been different again.

Yes, I was referring to yourself Peter. I thought you had a USA K1 🤔🤔🤔 In that case yes, your rear light is as big as barn door but also, that means you have the incorrect side panel badges fitted 😱😱😱😱 I would see it as a rare manufacturing balls up 😁😁😁

Why didn't they just have one style back light, it would be less confusing. But I'm sure you are correct and the bike for sale has the correct light fitted, it just doesn't look right to me though.

Even though that self proclaimed expert is up his own arse he does specify it's all on USA models.

A bit like this guy trying to sell a K2 as a K1 and then states it is "Re advertised due to time waster". I think he is the time waster, advertising the wrong bike >> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CB750-K1-1971-MANUFACTURED-BUT-REGISTERED-1972-USA-IMPORT/113239992259?hash=item1a5da127c3:g:0DUAAOSwefxbiXzd

The trouble is they are selling to those who don't know and are trying to screw every penny out of the job. Why else would be even mention K1. Amazing how many will buy without doing any sort of homework and just believe som ething they are told by the seller simply because a item is fashionable at the time. When the arse drops out of this market which it will in time, they will simply move on to the next money maker. The upside been plenty about for the true enthusiast.

It does seem strange these days but maybe it was to do with suiting local laws in some way. Even as late as the Fs they had different rear lights and indicators for different countries.

Oval rear lamp is correct for 1968-> very early 70's UK bikes and is often a good way to tell if bike is likely to be a genuine UK one (or JDM, as they fitted them for that market too)
