Carbs for sale
« on: September 14, 2018, 07:08:30 PM »
Hi Guys , is there anyone willing to sell a set of carbs for a 79 CB400 four . Ive stripped my carbs down today and found that there had been a snapped off float pin lug and its been repaired with Araldite. Don’t want to risk trying to get the float pin out as it looks like it will snap off again . Would anyone know if there is a decent set of carbs prefably refurbished that are for sale .

I had this exact same problem on my 400 when I took the carbs apart on no. 3 carb.
I got a replacement no. 3 carb from Steve at www.400fourbits.co.uk

He lists split carbs bodies that have been cleaned. If you email him he's sure to be able to help out.
If not then possibly gerben on ebay may be able to help.

Gerbens recon carbs are excellent and I would say that is a fair price. You can't run the bike without carbs 😀😀😀 Email Gerben, he may do you an exchange deal...always worth an ask.

Don't really know anywhere in Preston. You may be better buying a set of vac gauges and learning how to do it yourself. It's pretty simple to do really.

In my experience, carbs bought from Gerben will still need balancing.

Not necessarily Peter but i'm sure we all do it these days just for something else to do. If you think what happened with the carbs from the factory, they were bench synced by Keihin, who put the little yellow spots of paint on, fitted to the bikes by Honda, not checked or adjusted on PDI and off the customer went. A good bench sync will get the carbs very close to perfect, to allow the bike to start and run with no problems. I think these days it's because we all take our own carbs apart to clean them, fit new 'O' rings etc, that they need balancing again afterwards. If we left them alone in the first place, to factory settings, they wouldn't need re balancing.........
