Is a magneto the same as a starter motor Jason? Probably not but if it is we have a great guy refurb / overhaul our SOHC starter motors for us.

Only type I've used recently of that ilk is the following link

http://www.robsonandfrancisrewinds.co.uk/

They don't appear to list magneto but have had quite alot of old and vintage car stuff down there when i've been in, so worth a question to them.

Nigel.

cheers guys
it's a standard K2F for a twin.
I have used Tony Cooper in the past with good results..
he has a 4-6 week lead but that's being pushed to possibly 8..
I was hoping someone may have known anyone local to me  or possibly a service exchange service..
I'm going to take it out this week and give it a once over but it's been sat for 40 years so I am sure it will need more than a tinker..

Julie
you could ask you guy if you have time.
I believe it's  a similar skill set but more than likely a different job..
I may be able to pick up a replacement/spare but that too will more than likely be just as old..

If it needs a rewind that's a specialist tricky job but if it's the condenser ( capacitor) there is someone selling a little PCB  retrofit with a surface mount one on. In the standard setup the original capacitor is buried in the armature.

Guy at Newark last month was selling the slip ring assembly for £18, Fibre large gear for £12 and does exchanged nice looking refurbed armatures for £90.
