You don't see many UK units in this condition
« on: September 26, 2018, 06:58:58 AM »
My favourite 750 is the K2 from 1972 to 1975 and this is one of the best i have seen unrestored for a very long time. Someone loved this bike  :)

Got to say I disagree ;D. I love my bike(s), so much I keep riding them every opportunity I get. Club runs/shows, to work, evenings, shopping, motorcycle rallies, here and abroad, Euro touring. The outcome is the miles rack up.

If anything I'd have said there is little love for this bike, hidden away not used. Of course the outcome is an absolutely mint unrestored bike.

It even has the wrong tank badges ( correct for a late 1973/74/75 ) which at that time Honda fitted the badges off the K0 as we were the only country still getting the K2. They must of run out of the white badges and just used up the old stock off the early ones.

Never knew that Graham - thought they looked 'wrong' but an interesting side note. Like that.

I’m glad you posted about the tank badges before I made a fool out of myself, but a lovely bike.

Now I see the error of my cable ties. It does make me want a gold one, it looks the darker, oranger one of candy or custom, which is that? My mate had a new CB250 that colour, I always liked it.

Graham noticed that bolt was wrong Ken, he wondered if it had engine bars fitted at one time, which would require longer / different bolts.

Looks great! the UK models are a little less glitzy than the US models, especially the rear end... How can you be sure that it hasn't undergone some level of restoration during its life? a touch of paint here and there on the frame for example...

On the continent we also got the K2 until the K6 came late 1975.
I bought a 1974 K2 secondhand in1976.....

Interesting ! I have a German acquaintance that informed me years ago that all the K2's in Germany were just late 1972/1973 units. Did yours have the very late engine numbers 24***** and the later head and barrels ?
It will be interesting to get some information listed on K2's sold on continent.

Do you have any old pictures ?

Do you realize what you're asking, how long ago that is?
Amazingly i found the vin etc. in my 'archives' , chassisnr. was2093091 eng. 2344603,
Ishould have a pic somewhere, not like it was when i bought it (candy gold) but as i rebuilt it after i dropped it at some 130km/h-around 80mp/h.
Special paint and a 4-1 exhaust. I'll have to start a search, when it takes more than a week, start a rescueparty.......

Okay Graham, you've got me confused. Not tricky I know. You say 'It even has the wrong tank badges (correct for a late 1973/74/75) . It is a 1975 bike and according to what little I know, it's the correct badge in the wrong colour; it should be white, shouldn't it? Honda running out of badges doesn't sound quite right in my limited experience. Having been badly savaged by e-bay, I'm very suspicious. I also think it strange that a much loved bike (aren't they always? Have you ever heard a seller say 'it's a dog'?) only has 11k+ on the clock. My Norton can do better than that and it doesn't even run that often.

The parts book say they should be the white type but, i came across two K2's in 1993 that were still boxed in the back of Honda dealers that had black badges and i have a few UK unit with black badges. Most late K2's i have come across have had black badges, most restored ones have had white badges  :o
It is not a 1975 unit, it is a 1974 production K2 but, would of taken 6 to 8 months to arrive in the UK.

I would say from the condition in the pictures that the mileage is about right. If i was closer, i would love to view it and satisfy myself that it is what it is.

As for Ebay, i have bought some cracking bikes. Some that were listed wrong with minimal information, turned out to be still on there original tyres. But, i have also ended up going to view a bike that was that bad, i had to start on the seller who locked himself in his kitchen and would not come out. That bike was never advertised again by that seller and has never been up for sale since.
