Yes, i had the same problem, not a heart attack, through a routine check up it was discovered that i had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a thickening of the heart walls), as i was a PSV driver i had to undergo various test, ultimately it's down to your cardiac consultant who will forward his assesment to the DVLA, and their medical board will assess what risk you will pose. Although they will look more favourably on a car/motorcycle licence.

Sorry to put a bit of a downer on your plight but you are on the road to recovery and that's good.

Chin Up,
Adrian.

Good news Bryan and as the other's,  extended best wishes for recovery and getting any licence consideration achieved.

As some of the others have written above,  check up for anyone is worthwhile.

A friend took his son to eye test and the person carrying out that test looked at his ( the father's) eyes because he could see something which he thought was serious. Turns out he had blood pressure right at the upper extremes of reality,  this was they thought hereditary.  A question to his own father was answered with a "yes i've always suffered, and been medicated for it" he was walking through life just about to explode with no knowledge of it. Close shave but accidentally caught in time.

Another friend had experience as Bryan described, woke up in mobile bed and people all around him. These were not strangers though,  he a working paramedic was surrounded by his own colleagues that saved him. He'd been self medicating with paracetamol for a longer term persistent headache, ignoring that little statement on the packet "more than three days use,  then go see your gp" kinda stuff. He'd suffered a brain bleed that came sucrose to getting him. We joke that (he's always been known as a a budgie on account of general wittering on persistently)  it was only the beginning of rigamortice in his little birdie claws that has stopped him dropping off life's perch,  while gently swinging upside down!. It was really that close. Has has recovered and is back doing the same job now.  So great outcome.

A reminder to others of taking advantage of health checks,  even if nothing is apparent.

Thanks for the update Bryan, I do like my patients notes to be written contemporaneously.......
Try some low fat cottage cheese with the cardboard, it may help a little  :-\ :-\ :-\.
