Why would anyone steal a bike like this unless it's stolen to order?
I hope the thriving scumbags get what's coming to them twice over >:(.
Hopefully it will be recovered intact with minimal damage.

Almost certainly stolen to order, and probably on its way out of the UK to eastern Europe or some such. Either that or being broken down for parts

Well restored collectable bikes are an appreciating asset, and it's not always the right people appreciating them.....

Must be absolutely gutted..... hopefully it was insured with an agreed value. At least that would be some small comfort....

The bike was found a few days ago. The owner had bombarded all the social media sites with it and an elderly lady living in a retirement home saw a bike just like his parked in the car park with its back end in the hedge. She sent the owner a PM explaining that she thinks it s his bike and he went and got it back. He says he still doesn't know for sure how the lady saw the stolen ad on FB but, he was mighty pleased to be reunited with his bike.

Wow...incredible. Must’ve been abandoned by the thief?

That's good work spreading it about to publicise it,  lucky someone was on there ball to spot it.

Sometimes that method is used to check for trackers etc, take it and put it somewhere not covered by cctv,  then wait to see if it goes "cold" before then collecting it. Trys to avoid getting caught.

Another flip like that we had on a factory unit,  they smashed to alarm off the building with a scaffold pole,  somebody responded by visit to site,  checked around and found no intrusion,  secured building couldn't reset alarm as fault indicated,  then broke in later. Police said they probably timed response to alarm time as well to see how long they had if they triggered alarm again.
