Clocks and front brake calipers of CB400f2...gloss or satin?
« on: November 06, 2018, 09:53:34 AM »
I'm going to paint the clocks and the front brake calipers of my CB400F2...it's clear someone has done this before and not too well. They are gloss just now but I suspect it should be satin?

Yep, both should be satin black, PJI make a good black satin but it requires curing at 100c, OK for the brake caliper but I wouldn't use it on the clocks unless you have stripped them down.

I got to do the ones on my 750, and I am going satin. I will 'cure' it in the oven as I will be taking out the pistons and fitting new seals as a matter of course.

Is it ok to use normal paint on the caliper?

That's the stuff I bought...the VHT stuff.

I wouldn;t use ordinary sporay paint as I have seen what brake fluid does to it....and this stuff says it's chemical resistant.
