Chain options?
« on: February 12, 2019, 01:43:01 PM »
I know this has probably been covered many times but...
What are my chain options on my 750k1?
I would really prefer O ring. But your thoughts would be appreciated.
Sean.

I used a modern ‘X Ring’ chain from eBay, for peace of mind really. It has bling gold sideplates, but no one has bugged me about it yet. I found it with a simple search, it had CB750 K1 in the list of bikes it would fit.

The downside was it came only with a rivet link, no split link, there’s a thread somewhere where I asked about a riveting tool, I got one from Germany via the Bay, rather than take any chances. Absolutely no problems since, and it only needs occasional attention.

What I was getting at was.
Regarding sizes of chain. I believe O ring can can cause clearance issues. Are smaller more modern chain sizes more suitable?
I realise most modern chain will be better that that was available back in the 70's
I wouldn't use a Renold Grand Prix chain to chain up a Dog.

I just ordered DID530 X ring chain too.
Clearance is something I did considered at all. Can someone confirm it will or not fit?

The point is that ring chain is today almost the same as good quality std chain. That's why I opted for it.
