One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

Depends on the engineer examing the bike.

When you get a 30 year old that never saw an old nike like this, it can be time consuming.
With the Z1-R it was done in 10min. An old fart that had a Z1000R back in the days.
cheers, Uli

Got to be careful using the term "old farts" on this forum!! ;)

Beautiful bike.....I remember seeing my first Z900 (same colour as yours) back in 1975 on holiday in Paignton. My Wife had to drag me away after 10 minutes..................thinking I was crackers.............I was.....about the Z900 !

Still an awesome machine all these years later.....talk about 'Getting it right first time' ! The nice thing abut this Honda Forum is that most Members can see the beauty of other makes, and spectacularly special machines.

Ha ha!
Remember trying to fit mirrors on Ace bars?

We resorted to bar-end mirrors (see avatar)

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just learned from the A4 parts book that German and French A4 had those chrome mirrors. Didn’t knew that because you never seen them here with those mirrors but I wondered why that bike came with them.

Will change that immediately!

cheers, Uli

Probably the best looking Jap bike of all time IMO, I saw one of the new retro jobs on show next to  an original Z1, the original made the new one look bloated and clumsy, great bike Uli.
Suzuki GT250A (Nostalgia)
1977 K7 CR750 (lookalike, what of I’m not sure)
Ducati 900SS (Soul & Speed)
Ducati M900 Monster (Handling & character)
Thruxton 1200 (suits me)
James Captain 197 (pure adrenaline, i.e. no brakes!)
