CB500K3 identification help
« on: November 30, 2018, 01:59:58 PM »
Hi
can someone confirm this frame & engine is "matching" model CB500K3 European model (has label on rear frame, not on the head):
Frame: CB500K-1001xxx
Engine: CB500E-2201xxx

And also confirm model year / year of mfg?

Bike looks like CB550K four (4into4 exhaust like on CB750K7, idiot lights & ignition switch between clocks, CB750K7 style front fork & flashers) but is declared as 500K...
Ideally if somebody can post pic of stock original one CB500K3, would be great...wondering especially how rear flashers & rear lamp looks like on stock original one?

Thanks

Dont know where you are but the 500k3 never officialy came to UK so is a rarity but is identical to the 550k3 except for barells, pistons and crb jets.

I'm from Slovakia

Are you sure that this is the only difference "barells, pistons and crb jets" ? and of course side cover logos..

So, then it should be like this one http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,17309.msg147793.html#msg147793 except from fender (EU one had 2 spurs to my knowledge)
Or this one, right? (pictures from sale brochure from cmsnl)

The year of production nobody knows. Here's the CB500K3 Parts List that will offer you, besides the engine- and framenumbers a complete overview which parts your bike shared with the CB550K3 and which parts not: http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_parts_list/pdf_spac500-550/CB500-550_K3-K4.pdf

I have the impression - but it is no more than an impression - that most of the CB500K3s were marketed in Scandinavia. Do you have the Owner's Manual? If not, go here and scroll down till you find
CB500 K - CB550 K http://www.honda4fun.com/materiale-documentazione-tecnica/libretti-uso-a-manutenzione
Ignore p.68 (http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_libretti/500/CB500_550/CB500_550_06.pdf) It is not advised to adjust the camchain with the engine running.
