Love the Red one James - you've inspired me to get a move on with my spare tank/panels set - they're due back this weekend from the guy who does my painting - in the candy red!

I know that his bike has been on here for some time but this is the first time that I’ve ‘wasted’ (sic) a morning going over the restoration log. It’s stunning! I love the colour and wanted mine like that until I saw a gold CB750 of yours about 18 months ago; like the bike on page 6. With your turnover, I doubt that it’s the same bike and seeing the colour again has convinced me that I want mine like that but I have a dilemma. I’ve only ever seen this colour gold on your bike(s). You told me about it at the time but I can’t find a reference to it anywhere. I know that this is about as accurate as using Terry Pratchett as a historian but 'Classic Bike' claims the only colours were Candy Blue Green and Candy Ruby Red and Candy Custom Gold, which is darker, only being an option from the K2. (I have used other sources - without success). Was it a Japan only or USA option? Apart from that, this has given me a kick up the backside to get on with mine, which has been dormant since the cold weather started. A beautiful bike and I look forward to seeing the Gold bike finished.

I've had another look and the Gold you use is shown in the article as being available from the K1.  A nice bike but not what I've got. As I've told you before James, I'm happy to customise a modern bike but I like the old ones to be fairly original. I've just been out to get started but it's cold and wet. Tomorrow?

Hi Philip - sorry for the delay in responding.

For the K0's I generally source my paint sets from yamiya750 in Japan. Link here:

Certainly not a cheap option now - but the paint quality / finish is superb. Menno of course also does a cracking job and I use him wherever possible.

The two colours for '69 CB750's were Candy Ruby Red and Candy Blue-Green. Then from Jan 1970 onwards they introduced the Candy Gold option. This ran through into K1 production as well.

You have my number - feel free to call me for a chat anytime it's no bother; always happy to talk.

James

More porn for those of you with a Candy Ruby Red fetish, as some of you know the liner on my CB750 K1 tank gave up the ghost, so rather than keep faffing around repeatedly trying to seal the old tank, I got David Silvers to send Menno a brand new one to paint, as I should have done in the first place.

Just had this back from him, it will be on its way soon..

Thanks James, I'll drop you a line in the near future, as I have a couple of questions. Doesn't the Red look good? However, you don't see many Gold ones!
