Carb Balancing
« on: June 06, 2008, 07:53:02 AM »
I've now received my replacement vacuum adaptor so I'm finally going to balance the carbs after their stripdown.

What should I set the idle speed at to do it?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it should be a fast idle, around 1800rpm and not the standard 1200rpm.

Is this correct?

I'd set to 1200 if possible, very much faster and mine gets hot and bothered in traffic, giving rise to oil leaks from the top end once :-[ mind you I'm too wide to filter which ain't a problem for most bikes. The trade off from being able to terrify hichhikers ;D
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock
