clutch query
« on: January 22, 2019, 10:33:42 AM »
my 1st time replacing the friction plates on a K7

all seemed to go back together ok, however i have no movement at the lever. it is solid!

questions as to why this is the case

is the clutch centre engaged properly to clutch pressure plate?

i seem to have an additional friction plate to what was previously installed, however have now noticed that there is a double plate fix so have I installed so too many friction plates (ie i have fitted 6+1 and understand that one of the six should be discarded if the double plate fix has been installed)

Update...

Ive just reviewed the video of dismantling the clutch, plates were removed as follows starting from outer working inwards

1 nr fibre plate
2 nr metal plates
1 nr fibre plate
1 nr metal plate
1 nr fibre plate
1 nr metal plate
1 nr fibre plate
1 nr metal plate
1 nr fibre plate
1 nr metal plate
1 nr fibre plate
1nr double metal plate

total of 6nr fibre plates; 6 metal plates and 1nr double metal plate.

none of this appears to correlate to my Clymer manual or to the  "wrench" 750 Clutch noise fix" diagrams, suspecting it was a botch job previously hence the slipping

....so I now have far too many plates, which probably goes some way to explaining the lack of movement at the clutch lever

Im going to rebuild this follows, starting from inner plate working outwards as per the "wrench update"

metal
fibre
metal
fibre
metal
fibre
double metal plate (B)
fibre
metal
fibre
metal
fibre

so total 6 fibre, 5 metal and 1 double metal plate

does this make sense?

all pointers gratefully received before i delve back in.

thanks

I have not done a K7 clutch for yonks but, think it is the same as a F1 clutch.
