Pig iron.!What we all forget is the emissions and noise laws that apply to modern bikes that effects weight via crankcase thickness, cooling jackets, exhaust size and construction, etc. Also, the modern rider wants smooth engines and that means balance mechanisms, etc and that adds weight. British twins rattled things to pieces!
