Fastest MOT ever
« on: February 07, 2019, 05:41:54 PM »
Just had the company car MOT'd by that well known company, 2 words first one begins with K.

If it was my own car I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, but the lease company say we have to use them.

From them getting my car out of their car park to finishing and parking it up, 15 minutes exactly  :o

I know the MOT rules have changed but didn't realize it was way quicker now.

You must be logged on to the system for 45 min but, it is on the old time and motion system and you can do a bike in a lot less than they state  ;)

My brother is a service tec for shitfit and there strict on MOT's at his branch and more so on fleet cars as they know they will pay to have the work done.
The 45min to MOT is a bit overkill really as you can normally tell if something is a pass or fail just by talking to the customer and a quik look around the car.
Its normally the branch manager after the bonus putting to much work on the tec's and testers while the fitters are normally sitting on there rear ends waiting for tyre jobs.
If a car is serviced by the book in kwikfit it can take hours and there is no way they can get them all through the door.

There are some branches I know to avoid and there are some that can be more compatent then main dealers

The garage I used to take cars and bikes to has now sadly closed they knew me and my vehicles well and they would pass before I had walked into the office and turned the kettle on.
Current bikes
Honda CB750k1 Valley Green Metallic
Honda CB750k1 Candy Gold
Honda CB550k Candy Jade Green
Honda CG125
Aprilia Pegaso 650
Moto guzzi 1200 sport
Kawasaki EX650R (Mine until dave pays for it)
Kawasaki ZXR400 J

Me Arch, i would sooner haver a proper inspection with an arguable fail than a quick dodgy pass.

Yes, but a cursory inspection and missing things ain't what I'd want from an mot. By the time I have gone to the effort of going to the test station and paying for the test I want them to actually do the test properly. That said, I wouldn't bother with mot on exempt vehicles. I'd rather take the time to look after it myself.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

But nice to know a "skilled" technician was happy it was OK on that day...... :-\
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....
