Steering lock
« on: February 09, 2019, 11:31:50 AM »
Would anyone know why my steering stem doesn’t have a hole in it for the steering lock it’s a cb 550k3 which has many parts from an f1 fitted to it but according to cmsn the steering stem is the same for both models

Because its not a K3 stem.
The K3 has a lock in the side of the headstock and the pin goes into a slot milled into the srem tube.
Earlier ones fit into the lower yoke and the pin goes upward to lock on the steering stop on frame.

The plot thickens looks like the only part of the bike which is definitely k3 is the frame

Worry not, the only parts of my original CB550/4 K3 left are the frame, top and bottom yokes and 2 wheel hubs.....she's not called Millie the Mongrel for nothing 😀😀😀😀

If you have the lock hole in the frame you could cut the slot in the stem to take the pin.
