They look good don't they.

Unusual to have an 18 inch pirelli phantom on the black one,  do they still make them in that size new?

No Nigel, they don't still make them. It was a tyre Trig had in stock so it got used up on this bike.

I've always liked those, carried one of the first ones back from a motorcycle show for the K2 I had at the time, from Earls Court,  I think. :)

Lovely evening for a blat on the 400, ended up at Newhaven Harbour, smell of the damp grass as I rode along took me back to my early days on a bike, very evocative, fantastic! [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Out and about at Boston Bike Night. 1000's of bikes a usual, I took me little 400/4 and Trig went on the 750/4 mongrel. I only took 1 photo tonight, it seems Honda have gone full circle back to the mid 70's. This was on the Honda dealers stand, its a new CB650F......just look at the exhaust system, does it look familiar? Not quite as sexy as the 70's version but, not far off  😀😀😀

It does look familiar.

But. I personally don't like the styling of modern  bikes.

Unless they are retro styles.

Light alloy.chrome pipes. And proper long exhausts.
Not pressed tin cans ready to be covered in mud

Agree John, modern bikes all look the same to me, just different colours and stickers. And, new bikes are soooooooo small, even a 1000 cc bike looks like its the sort of size that it should fold in two and fit in the boot of the car. 🤔

I looked at one of these bikes in my local Honda dealer a few months ago (no intention of buying one, just looking). The price for a set of replacement header pipes was £2,500, this excludes the silencer!  The headlamp was over £400! These prices make our old bikes look cheap to restore!

I think Honda even pay a mention to how the CB650 swoopy exhaust reflects the original 400/4 in their latest sales literature.

Hard to improve on perfection though innit !

The pipes look proper "swoopy" but the engine looks like some sort of central heating boiler mated to a car engine, and the rest looks like bits and pieces thrown together it just does not flow at all, don't likes it.

Sadly I won’t be at Chrich with the CL450 tomorrow, as the wife’s father is threatening to shuffle his mortal coil , so I’m driving her over to be with him.
