Front Wheel Bearings.
« on: July 20, 2008, 07:53:04 PM »
I want to replace the front wheel bearings on my 550 but I can't remove the bearing retainer from the hub.

Does anyone have the correct tool to do it or perhaps do it for me?

Beer tokens on offer...

I had a go at making my own tool but it's a bit rough and ready as I was using what was around in raw materials, found the bearing retainer was so soft that it was badly damaged even using my homemade tool, In the end I've just taken to removing the retainer with a punch very carefully so as not to dammage the hub. I'd check there arn't any ceter dots punched into the thread that might need drilling out. I didn't know honda did this when I last tried so this might have been a factor (that was pre me finding this useful forum)
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock
