I know of an independant garage that only takes cash and he fills up for you. If you go near the pump you get a slap on the wrist.
The only thing he seems to sell in his shop is WD40  ???
That sounds like a typical Lincolnshire garage 🤣🤣🤣

We should have a Lincolnshire meet one sunday this summer... lots of nice roads and sleepy villages, ideal for a classic bike rideout... Meet at willingham woods maybe.. would be nice to see a gang of old sohc’s rumbling down the road together.

Sounds a grand idea. We go to Willy Woods regularly on our old SOHC's and a few others get there from time to time as well.

Remember when garage forecourts had Redex and 2stroke oil dispensers on them.  :)

Yep.

I had a Raleigh Runabout 50cc when I was 16 (1974)
Petrol was 10/- a gallon and you added your own 2 Stroke oil from the squirter thing on the forecourt.

My Father had a Raleigh Supermatic (with a belt than ran up a taper as the engine speed increased to sort of give a higher gearing and a pillion seat) that I "tore" about on. He never trusted the machines and always mixed the fuel himself at home.
10/- a gallon works out at about £1.32 a litre today according to the inflation calculator. Average earnings have outstripped inflation (so they tell me) over this time so fuel today is cheaper!
When I started in 1970 fuel was 3 gallons for a £1.
