3d print files?
« on: April 13, 2019, 09:34:12 PM »
Has anyone come across any useful 3d printer files at all? I'm specifically thinking of the horn button on the 400, but I've run out of Google-fu trying.

If you have the dimensions, or a broken example I can make you a 3d model

I do the same, and scratch build in 3d for whatever I need to print.

I have nothing except a stump of metal with a hole that comes out of the switchgear. I'd love someone to help though!

Is it just the plastic knob you are all talking about?. If so, i have one on my bike that i can remove and take photos of and measurements if needed. But, not until Thursday as busy tomorrow.

This thing
And no, the bike still hasn't been cleaned !!! You can tell my bikes are riders and not show ponies 😀😀😀

That's the little bit yes! If you could take as many pics as possible, perhaps put it on a flatbed scanner, I'm sure that would be a good way to start!
Thank you! :)

Hi Julie, if you take photo’s or scans try to include a digital caliper so the size can be accurately reproduced  :o

Yep, I will be armed with appropriate measuring equipment.
Someone makes them somewhere as they are fitted to all the replica switchgear. It's the same knob on 500/4, 550/4 and 750/4

Yeah I would have thought they are available as injection moulded reproductions... a 3d printed part will be a poor substitute (rough finish) unless you have a bloody expensive printer.. but i’ll happily do a cad model.....

It may only be UK  models that have that type of knob across the model range. I think USA switch gear knobs are different. Don't know about 750 F1/2's as don't have any if them models here.

OK Barry, I will do it on Thursday

Careful Julie, the little screw which holds it on can't round off very easily.
Thanks Ken. I have had the knob off before as a wire had corroded in the switch and i soldered it back together. What I'm not sure about, as i can't remember, is if i put a dab of locktite on the screw but, i will have a look and see before I wade in.
