They keep trying it on
« on: April 16, 2019, 06:03:41 PM »
A UK K5, no such thing. Colour wrong, ears from a K2, chrome chain guard  :o, handle bars wrong and the wrong switches, left looks like a super dream and both running on the outside of the bars >>>

It still looks nice 👍 but he needs to modify his advert to be more realistic / accurate. I guess somebody will buy it and be as happy as a pig in shit until somebody points out all the incorrect details  :-[

Can't remember ever seeing a red zone that goes past the figures, is that correct?

Paintwork looks nice though.

Get the side-panel badges on the right way round, fit a trim to the tank and ride it  ;D

That looks remarkably like the one a guy from Stafford had for sale last week for 5995 on vjmc right down to the back to front badges. He got really upset when those errors were pointed out to him!

I like these bikes and all the observations. They make me feel better about mine. Learning all the time. It's a nice day, I think I'll get mine out and polish the frame.

With a name like Mr Sheene I'd expect nothing else.

To my untrained eye...it's a nice looking usable bike.

The issue is, it's being made out to be far more than it really is...and given a price to match. It's not a pristine and totally original bike.

I don;t mind bikes like that...and when my 750 is done...it won;t be a concours nut and bolt resto, but will rather be like I remember them back in the day. When we used to put spongy foam hand grips on, fit ALFA 4-1 pipes and clipons despite not being able to fit matching rearsets ... When the sensible lads fitted Rickman Polaris fairings, and the fast guys had fork braces and horrid fibreglass front mudguards. Well..actually...we used to bolt some utter shite on in the belief it made us cool...but it's how I remember these bikes in the 80's when they were far from classics, but just 'transport'.

I don't like artificial inflation of prices...
CB750F2 - in pieces
CB900F Hornet - the daily transport

What would it cost to put right? The errors are only small things. Naughty calling it a UK bike though if it's a USA import made to look UK.

I'm by no means an expert, but why is this not a UK bike, it seems some of the parts are correct e.g handle bars, rear light bracket?

Tha DVLA website says this bike was first registered in August 76 (poss manufactured late 75) in which the use of K5 might just be an uninformed owner/seller thinking K1 is 71, K2 is 72 and so on?
Bikes: 1970 CB750 K1 and a 1976 Z900 A4
Cars:  1958 Triumph TR3A and a 1972 TR6

It is a UK bike but, a K6 in a USA K5 colour with wrong clocks, switches, handlebars, ears, indicator stems and so on. The error is not only small thing but, a good set of clocks can set you back £300 and to find UK spec switches that are very rare, the costs will mount up ;)

What would it cost to sort it correctly Trig, £1000 maybe if you accept the K5 paint? That puts it at 10.5k, is that too much? Just interested in the costs of these things that's all, I won't be buying it.
