Hi All,
Does anyone have a preferred method of removing the rotor part of the alternator?

Thanks  Bill

The ONLY way is either the Honda 4 way threaded tool or you can buy individual bolt type ones. Never ever a legged puller!!

Thanks Julie. It was either buy the correct tool or belt it off with a hammer.

Given that it probably hasn't been off the tapered shaft since it was built, that's 40 years ago!!!

See you both tomorrow.

Bill.

Hi Trigger and Julie,

Nice to see you both this morning.

We had a good swapping session and the rotor is off.

Still another 2 to do, but not for a while yet.

Thanks once again.

Bill.

Great seeing you again too Bill. I'm pleased Grahams 'special' rotor tool worked, so simple really. Thanks for the boot full of recyclable 'spares'. See you soon.

Hi  Julie,

My brother is stripping his CB400 engine. Would Graham's "special tool" fit his rotor or is it a different size?
Cheers
Bill.

Unfortunately not Bill. Believe it not, the CB400/4 uses something larger. But, I'm sure you will sort it out  ;)

There are 3 or 4 different size threads on rotor extractors.

Hi Julie,

Have you any idea what the correct thread size is?
I can't find any definitive answers on the internet.
I get 16mm, 18mm and 20mm as a fit for the CB400.
Thanks Bill.
