Seat Pan, Orignal or Not?
« on: May 14, 2019, 11:43:54 AM »
Hi,

i've stripped my seat pan off the 400. It had some extra padding at the back that didn't look original. Can anyone tell me if this is the original seat pan?

Bikes:
Suzuki Address 110 Scooter
Suzuki TL1000s
BMW R1200GS LC
Honda CB400 F2 1977 (to be restored)

It looks a bit short in that picture, so possibly it has been shortened by some previous owner, which might explain any "extra" padding. All the 400 seats I have recovered have been a single foam moulding.

Agree with Mr Hairy, that is far too short and looks totally wrong. I will measure mine in a while.

Thanks, I never thought to measure it, it also looks like it's been hacked by some butcher!

After having 2 seat bases rot away I went for a pattern one which has a plastic base.

I purchased a pattern seat from DSS, not the seat base.

Waffey, this my original if you need to see what it should look like. You see second hand ones for sale but you will have to do some work on them to get anything like.
