It's too good for them.

They were designed to run on good old 10/40 with frequent oil changes and that's what I use in mine and it's fine even after 30 years.

Whether synthetic would do any damage I don't know but I'm sure there's someone on here who knows...

Didn't help my f2 much so I would stick with the 10/40 as recommended
Go on you know you want to

Not worth the cost as you still have to change it every 1500 miles

What are people generally using. I have some Silkolene 10/40 (possible semi synthetic) for motorcyles, should I use it? or look for something a little less modern like a classic 10/40 from morris or similar.

Thanks

Seamus

I use anything that's reasonable quality. It gets changed every 1000 to 1500 miles so it's not worth paying out too much.

I think the last lot I bought was Tesco's own and it's been fine!

You can use the full synthetic, but may have the tendency to let the clutch slip! I recommend the 'normal' 10W40 from Castrol or Valvoline, never had any issues with it.

Better sorry for failing than for the lack of trying.

Silkolene Transfleet 10w40 is exactly in the Honda spec if you can get it

Classic motorcycle mechanics (Feb 2009) did an article on the subject.
The conclusion is that the normal 10w40 oil changed as bike manufactures spec is fine.
