Triumph TR6 Euro Trip (car not a bike)
« on: June 17, 2019, 06:10:15 PM »
Greetings from the South of France where we are resting up for a few days with friends having driven from Northern Spain to the southern coast in our 1972 TR6, so far we've put 1200 miles under the wheels.

Our drive through the Picos Mountains to Cervera de Pisuegga was fantastic, amazing driving and riding roads, lakes views at Riano and mountain passes (up in the clouds and it was cold up there!), my wife Bev was gripping the edge of seat during the twisty bits!  Stopped for lunch at Potes, a very picturesque little village and well worth a visit.

An epic 7.5 hr/230 mile drive from SOS del Rey (with a few ‘comfort breaks’) to our next watering hole at La Seu d’Ugell on the N-260 and what a fantastic road (with really crap parts too which gave the TR6's suspension a good workout - glad I fitted a rear telescopic conversion kit! The scenery was breathtaking and cut through some amazing deep gorges and the mountain passes were not to be missed. Even though we only managed an average speed of 20-30 mph and the concentration was tiring the route was well worth the experience and Bev’s face on the mountain hairpins was classic!

We set off in Wednesday morning for the Italian Riviera for 4 days then up to the Italian lakes (3 days) before heading to Switzerland on the last leg then home via Calais on 27 June - so far the car has hasn't missed a beat and hopefully it'll stay that way despite the weather currently 40C in the open sunlight.

Looking forward to getting home and taking delivery of the K1's paintset from Menno.........but don't tell Bev!

Here's a few photos:

Very good looking car,  and sweet six cylinder power too.

Landscape and sky colours set it off really well,  sounds like a great journey.

It'll be pretty cool in that over the Alps,  some more nice picture opportunities there as well.

I love Northern Spain, far better than the Med end especially if you are on a bike.  You have the bad roads to come with Italy they are diabolical.  Enjoy your trip.  :)
