550 K1 Tank project
« on: June 21, 2019, 07:39:18 PM »
Hi all , i decided to strip my spare tank & repaint it as a bit of a project , so a tin of Nitromors and i was off , it took a few applications of the stuff but it got the paint off fairly easy , a couple of very small dents were filled and then primer . Ive got to sand some high areas down but overall pleased with it , not sure about colour yet but i might do a block colour as that will be easier. Stopped for a tea break & the cat drunk it when my back was turned. ;D ;D

Hi
Make sure you check for leaks on the tank before final paint..
They have a habit of leaking at the seams as a hobby.

Yea will do , it didn't leak when I took it off the bike a few months back but it has been sealed in the past .

It seems pets love drinking things they shouldn't!

I Finished my spare tank  project in a black & silver fleck  , i think it gives it a meaner look  >:( the silver trim i got from Julie ( many thanks), not one for the purists but for a first attempt im pleased with it but i do now appreciate how time consuming it is .
