CB500/4 Speedometer
« on: July 03, 2019, 09:51:46 AM »
The odometer on my bike has stopped working.   The speed bit is OK but for some reason the miles don't change.  Is there an easy fix for this or will I need to look for a second hand unit?  (would have to be faded and battered not to stand out too much)

The base appears to be pressed together and not easy to undo.

Obviously the mileage counter drum is not being driven so it's likely one of the internal gears has stripped.  Repair is possible provided it's not the spiral gear on the drive end. Image will show the gear train to the counter drum.

Florence,

I've got this one off a CB 550, approx 1974.

Cheers Trigger, I wasn't sure if it would fit as they are a similar machine.  Bill W.

Florence does the cable attachment come out of the back dead straight or at an angle?

I’ve got a speedo to sell if you’re interested. Cable attachment comes straight out of the back.
