break in
« on: August 15, 2019, 05:51:04 PM »
made a bit of a soul destroying discovery a few weeks ago when i noticed a big hole in the back of one of my sheds. the lawnmower and pressure washer were gone but not such a big deal, but the thieving gits took a few supermarket size crates full of bike bits which are probably on ebay by now. thankfully both my frames and engines were in a more secure shed close to the house so that's a relief. i have loosely assembled enough parts from my stash of spares to complete one bike (honda britain) but annoyingly, i have no swingarm dust seals! hence my ad in the wanted section. the other bike (phil read rep) is going to inherit some cbr600 running gear for the time being, as i want to use that one as a weekend ride.  it never rains.....

That's bad news and I can imagine how you felt when you saw the hole in the shed. Thieving low life, waste of space scumbags, I hope there was an unsealed battery in one of those crates they nicked and the acid spills over their fingers.
Good luck with your search for dust seals.

A friends son used to run a scrap yard in Fleetwood and had two very large ferocious dogs that were brought up to be aggressive. They lived in a locked caravan during the day and used to patrol the yard at night after closing. After the scrapyard closed down he sold one dog and kept the other in a back garden kennel at home. One night about 4am he heard a commotion in the back of the house with lots of screaming and shouting. When he got downstairs there was nobody about, but by the 6 foot garden fence there was an angry dog with blood all over it's face. He never bothered ringing the police, nor did the scumbag ever return.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

thanks chaps. as i said earlier, i've got enough parts to complete the britain and i've also found another box of bits in work (from archmill, i think) which means i'm a lot better off than i thought in order to build up the read rep. i've been spending most of the day removing the rear end off an old cbr600 and it fits the 750 frame rather well.  i'm not modifying the frame in any way so i would be able to change it all back to standard in a week or so.

You've got my vote Phil.
