Honda cb 250 rs
« on: September 01, 2019, 12:35:34 PM »
Hi all, i have a 1981 Honda cb 250 rs deluxe (electric start) i know its not a 4 cylinder but finding people who know anything about these bikes is difficult
I am after a front brake caliper, which are rare and new old stock is silly money.
Any advise would be much appreciated, maybe other model calipers may fit. ???
  Thanks Steve.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum.
Is your existing front brake caliper unserviceable, what exactly is wrong with it?

I restored one of these bikes last year although it was the RSA model and not the DX but basically the same engine.
Here's a link to the rebuild:

Thanks for the welcome and the link. The caliper on the bike was seized and had a small hairline crack, i did free it all up but the crack is a no no.

Go to cmsnl and find your exact model then look up the caliper part number, the middle 3 numbers of the total number will tell you what bike it was first used on and you may be able to search the number via google

Welcome to the forum Steve.

The information is free but you'll get infected by our enthusiasm for the four cylinder Honda SOHC bikes,  then you'll feel the need to buy one which is going to cost you  ;D ;D ;D

The 400 contingent won't let you get away without one of those.

Thanks for the advice, I will have a look.
As for getting another Honda, I will be happy to but I need to finish this 250 first.

I'll have this for sale soon, 0 miles since a full restoration. I need to get it MOT'd and some running in miles on it first though 👍.

Now that is a good looking bike. Lovely work. Not sure if i dare ask the price.
It seems that a caliper from a CALIPER A CB750K 750 FOUR K 1979 is  the same after looking via your advice, they seem as rare as anything.

Shouldn't be that hard to find, that was the first of the DOHC 750's, still lots of bits around for those, search e bay is a good starting point.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!
