Saw this bike advertised at Oxford classic honda, could be a great project for someone and would be very unique.

Interesting to see what mods the engine has.

Body work is 900 Benelli,  which was evolved out of 500 Honda originally.

Well...the Benelli started out as a 750 six pot, and was basically a SOHC Honda motor with 2 extra pots in a lot of respects, so the Honda lump probably fits in without too much difficulty.

Interesting...but I can;t see any reasons to want it.

Certainly will be a challenge, as I doubt the chassis parts are easy to source if you need any. If I was going to go to that much trouble...I'd want a six pot motor as well

Think it's just a Benelli "bodykit" bolted onto std Honda 500 four, otherwise all Honda running gear.

I prefer that one Nigel, it almost looks 'stock'.
I wonder it Honda put the prototype CBX engine in a 750 frame to see how it looked?

I clipped the picture a few years ago as thought it was interesting, don't know the origins of it.

They copied the 500 Honda engine (even things like conrod and piston interchange apparently)  but they canted the barrels and head forward like the 750 Honda as compared to Honda's upright 500.  Which makes both the four,  above, and the six look more like Honda's 750 to the first glance.

In theory,  the six shouod slot straight into a 500 Honda frame.

There are pictures of that mock up around Dave,  I'll try to find some.
