Freddie Flintoff’s Bandit trike
« on: September 12, 2019, 08:22:07 PM »
So a Top Gear muppet missed his braking point, so what. What I’m intrigued about is the engine.

Here’s a link to the BBC website, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-49670478

I’m guessing some sort of two stroke with those expansion exhausts but they do leave at the rear of the cylinders. Anyone know more or has been able to google something?

Some things like that are snowmobile related as they are pretty potent.

But that one looks like RD350 Yamaha derivative,  and related Banshee quad bike engine transmission.

With a bit of engineering adaption most could mount the cylinders backwards as in the Flintoff example,  so carbs front and pipes exit rear.

I have seen that in action a few times and it is a heavily reworked RD350 engine, and to be honest not very quick. It definitely is not a jet engine as reported in the Daily Mail.

They often use what are known as Banshee engines which as said, are heavily reworked LC motors. 70+ brake seem to remember too.
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....
