Both are overpriced the clocks on the 1st really let it down, as for the second it would turn into a bottomless pit of expense.

Bet the second was a lovely bike that was left in damp to rot  ... real shame.  I reckon the pillion bars are a good example of what kind of nick it was in before it was  left in the damp unloved. Or maybe its been exposed to rat pee ...Oddjob  ;D ;D ;D

Even the stainless front disk has started to rot, and I bet the engine is full of water. I doubt there is anything usable on that bike.

If I was asking £10k for a bike I would at least make sure the photographs are of decent quality, why take photos in full sunlight!

I couldn't agree more. The whole bike looks like some quick tart up, I wouldn't be parting with 10k for that. Is it me or is something not right about the exhaust headers? Think I would rather bid on the DK bike.

Jason (Woodside) posted a pic of that bike a few weeks ago and also mentioned the headers. I thought it may be a mixture of OEM and aftermarket down pipes as the OEM and aftermarkets have a totally different shape bend on them.

For the second one you just need to find a Thai girl with a bit of money named Kulap and it would quickly sell. [/img]

Second bike made me cry.

Probably near the coast ( Where isn;t on the Isle of Wight) and was left for years under an old tarp. Turning it into old carp .....
It may 'turn over', but I doubt it rolls easy or has rolled very far recently. I would expect it to be as corroded inside as outside.

Sad to see there were other bikes rotting away in his collection. BMW R75 needs a decent home too.

The top bike made me laugh.  Make it shiny and add a zero to the price. Stick it in a collection somewhere and hope it becomes worth what you paid in a few years time.

Looks like it Jason. If that sells for the guide price, then there are a lot of us forum members who are sitting on absolute gold mines........😀😀😀 If that sells for anything like the reserve, I feel very, very sorry for the buyer.

As we all know, 1970's stuff fetches high prices at the mo. The 70's teenager has become the 50/60 year old with a pair of nostalgic rose tinted glasses and a larger wallet now, but the dealerships here do tend to take the piss.  There's loads of people jumping on the bandwagon and importing container loads of old bikes, from the States in particular.  That place in Stoke have been doing it for years, but there's a whole micro industry growing up now.  I had a 1977 Yamaha RD200 I bought privately a couple of years back, they aren't too badly priced, but the 400's are going nuts with people asking £10k for less than perfect examples.  Early Kawa triples are also going for daft money.  I had this 750 H2 back in the 90's and let it go for about £2k at the time.

Sorry the photo is on its side!! :(

I'd get £10k more now, maybe more than that, but I wouldn't buy one for £12 or £15k myself. Its the same with a Z1 or early CB750.  It's nice to have an old bike to ride around on, but I wouldn't want as much as £20k tied up in one.   There's plenty of excellent modern bikes for that money.  Take the new Royal Enfield 650 twins, not everybodys cup of tea perhaps, but you could get two brand new for less than £11k.  Yes, I know what you're thinking, a modern bike will depreciate whilst a 70's classic will hold or even increase in value.  Mebbe so, but at close to 61 years old, I'm not hanging around to see a bike I own double its value in ten years,

I might be dead by then!
