Cold starting procedure?
« on: November 04, 2019, 07:48:29 AM »
I always seem to have trouble starting my bike from cold.

I  tend to put choke fully on and wind throttle open, fires easily but the seems to kind of flood out and die.

I have tried various combinations of choke and throttle position but just can’t seem to get right technique

Bike runs perfect when warm by the way
If you think there's light at the end of the tunnel it's usually another train !!

Paul, my way:

- full choke by left hand
- open trottle by right, keep it open
- start (it fires immidiately)
- right after it fires, choke off fully or partially, while still keeping trottle open, keeping full choke makes mix too rich im my case and engine tends to die
- keep trottle open till engine is not warm enough to keep idle or use idle knob and screw it in to increase idle rpms.

Use full choke. About quarter throttle. When it starts. Open choke slightly. Warm engine at 2k rpm.
Should accept fully open choke quite quickly.
I tend to start it on main stand.put in gear to warm gearbox as well.
If you blip the throttle with clutch pulled in.it will separate the plates nicely.
