Wemoto kevlar clutch plates.
« on: November 04, 2019, 06:22:07 PM »
Has anyone used a Wemoto Kevlar clutch. I am trying to fit one to the CB350F but the plates are too thick. This is the second one they have sent out and I suspect the kevlar is swelling with the oil. Other than send both sets back and get a standard cork set, not sure what to do?

The Cruzinimage plates worked very well but they just stick overnight so tight you cant budge them. Do the EBC plates stick. I was recommended to go with the Wemoto Kevlar plates as they dont stick, but I dont think they are ever going to fit. Wemoto's technical guy is going to ring me tomorrow.

Graham fits EBC to all our own bikes and customers engine rebuilds and have never had a problem with them sticking.

Just a quick update. Wemoto were being really pig headed about the plates being oversize insisting that they were checked before being sent out. From the tone of the email they are implying that I am too dumb to be able to mike a set of clutch plates. So I have taken Julie's advice and got an EBC kit from another source. That fitted perfectly without hassle, adjusted up first time and works lovely. So the rubbish Wemoto plates (full of oil) have gone back to them and I have recommended they send the guy who measured them to college to learn how to use measuring tools. ;D  I will still use Wemoto though as you cant limit the option when looking for 40 year old parts. That said the email they sent really annoyed me.

Hi Roy,
You should send WEMOTO some photos of your superb bikes....before and after !

I think that would probably result in an apology for doubting your mechanical ability.

Wemoto rang me today to say the clutch plates had arrived back and they are indeed oversize as are their entire stock (well you don't say!!). They have refunded the costs plus postage etc. Nice to be right in the face of people insisting your wrong. That's the difference, I'm a time served engineer and they sell brown boxes with numbers written on them.  >:(  They did tell me earlier in the whole mess that they had checked my plates before they sent them out, that was just a lie and very annoying. But heyho, I win. ;D

Good result Roy. Good for you sticking to your guns mate !

I wish I had a £1 for every delivery that was checked by me and my fellow Goods Inwards Inspectors, where the Suppliers swore blind that their own Final Inspectors had checked the goods and they were in tolerance - before they left their factory.

I would be a very rich man.
