Bomber fork leg
« on: January 06, 2020, 04:24:19 PM »
Just stripped the forks for the Bomber after finally getting the seal holders off. This is what I found underneath, got to be the worst corrosion I have ever seen on a fork leg. It measures about 12 thou deep so is probably way outside rechroming limits. Don't suppose anyone has a spare fork tube for a Black Bomber CB450K0 going spare. Once again it appears to be a big ask.

Ash to the rescue yet again. They are going off to philpotts anyway but that ones going in the scrap. I think this build would be impossible if it wasn't for your stash. Cheers Ash.

Here ya'go Roy. Should rechrome fine.
I will get it off to you ASAP.

I just noticed on these that the Bomber stanchion waists slightly above the Bottom yoke. Did you notice that on yours?

Cheers "Ash-From-The-Stash"  ;D ;D

Thanks Ash looks better than the one I have. Yes they do angle in above the yoke. Not sure Philpotts are going to like these as there are different diameters, angles, and several circlip grooves to be ground back in. Might be pricey. I will drop some cash into your Paypal account for postage of the growing list of parts. Thanks again.

Dont worry about post. The CB750K0 stanchions have the same arrangement of circlips so I don't think it will be a problem for Philpotts. Is it's a problem for them, there is also another place my friend Graham Curtis always uses in Nottinghamshire and they do a really good job too and a bit cheaper I believe.

Who are the other people in Nottinghamshire? I am always up for saving a few bob where possible. MCTID has recommended a place in Sandbach Cheshire called Dynasurf?

Bomber leg arrived this morning in good condition and is easily re-chromeable. So thanks for that, another problem overcome. The stantions were immediately repacked and sent off to Dynasurf in Cheshire for hard chroming. Quoted me £145 including the top nuts plus £12 return postage so not too bad. And they have been recommended by a member on here that has used them recently.
