Tank badges
« on: January 17, 2020, 02:51:02 PM »
Can someone tell me what the difference is between a right hand and left hand tank badge on a 1971 CB500K0?

Many thanks

From my experience very little - they are supposedly pre-bent to the form of the tank, but if you're just gentle / careful you can bend them by hand to suit (just be careful no to crack the painted infill).

And the pins are in different places as they are handed.
Edit... Saying that, I haven't got a tank to hand to see if when you line the pins up with the holes, to see if the badges actually sit on the tank in the correct position. They probably do though.

For a long time in the 70,s a lot of the big Honda parts suppliers like Fowlers, Padgetts, Bill Head etc only stocked the one part number and used to tell us re shape it to fit

Interesting, DS and the parts book both list them as handed with sequential part numbers. My K1 originals are handed too.

Andrew-S, that was why I asked the question.  I had noted the different numbers, but cannot see any difference between the two I have, other than the the possible difference in curvature.

Both my badges 750F have same part number just bent them to shape. What keeps them in place on the tank? Rusty bits of some kind of retainer were on the badge pins, suppose I could just glue them in
