Chain tensioner CB750 k5
« on: January 20, 2020, 01:03:34 PM »
Hello all,
Is it possible to remove the chain tensioner from a CB750 k5 engine to check it’s not jammed without dismantling the head?

I’m worried if I take it off I won’t be able to get it back back in.

Thanks
G

If you're on about the cam chain tensioner at the back of the engine, yes it can be easily removed without stripping the engine. Just remove it, take it apart which is a push rod and spring, clean and relube it, push the plunger all the way down, lock it with the locking bolt, put it back in with new gadket. Set engine at TDC + a few degrees, release locking bolt, it will automatically set itself, tighten up locking bolt and licking nut. Job done.
