Tips on starting CD175

(1/2) > >>

oldh:
The 1975 bike's a good runner but a pig to start from cold any ideas?
Cheers
Dave
p.s. usually goes with a bump.

Johnwebley:
Check the choke.

Most Hondas need it in the cold.

Check ignition system.
Plug.plug cap.coil.HT lead.
Also Carb.jets etc

My first port of call would be the plugs, check the gaps and perhaps change them if you are getting a weak spark.

Moorey:
Check your points gap and timing. I can start mine from cold when it's on the bench with my hand. They do need full choke when cold. Welcome to the forum.

Many thanks guys. I think that I have given all the points that you mention a good dose of looking at and setting up to what I think is correct. However, I will get the manual out and go over them all again. I was never sure how much or little choke to give, so will apply full choke next time out.
I am sorely impressed with your hand starting Moorey, I'm obviously missing something somewhere.
I'll keep you posted on how I go on, but it will be a few weeks as the bike is currently overwintering at my sisters garage.
Thanks again and kind regards.
Dave
