I have this part for sale on ebay. Part number 17319-323-000

BZP looks a bit dodgy on that Julie (perfectly good to use of course and a rare item) .. did our friends in E/Yorks plate it? Dropped a batch off there last month ..... lead times 6 weeks+ which is a lot longer than they normally take. Took a 400/4 rear sprocket guard plate in there for dark olive drab plating, with a pile of other parts ... interesting to see how it comes out.

Yes Ash, this parts was as pitted as pitted could be so it's come out quite well considering. The BZP itself is fine, (yes, done by our usual boys) but it will not show when fitted and seemed a shame to just throw it in the skip.

Sorry, it's me again! :-[

I don't mean to be a pain but I really don't want to have to do this again! Which side do you set the slides from, front or back? :o

How big is the gap at the bottom of the slides with the idle screw backed off fully Bob, just out of interest and do the gaps look equal?

Ok, I just checked with a drill bit and it's 3.2mm which is about one eigth of an inch in old money. Too big? This is the engine side.

Yes, you are on the correct side of the carbs and 3.2 mm sounds far too big. More importantly, do the slides close fully when you back off the big idle adjuster?. This is what my red squirt tube measures

Thanks all, measure from the engine side not the intake. But tomorrow is another day and my knees have given up! :-\

You need to be going through the procedure on each carb slide as described in the link to Bryan's post. You need to unlock to lock nuts on the top of each slide, where my finger is pointing to, and screw the adjuster up and down to get the correct height of each slide and lock it off again. You need to do this with all 4 slides. It also looks like the red tube isn't in the centre of the gap, which it needs to be.

What you are aiming for after adjusting Bob is parity of gap on all 4 slides and all 4 slides to be closed fully when the idle adjuster is backed off totally. So, when you twist the big idle adjuster, the slides lift up and the gap is exactly the same under each slide which adjusts the idle tick over on all 4 carbs equally.
