Haha ..but he could sell that gorgeous seat for about £500 though Bryan... didn't appreciate it was to be modified, in which case I agree with you mate.

The local chippy owner (nice Chinese lad) had a 240Z. He was always going on about how fast it was so I challenged him to a race over 1/4 mile with my 500-4. If he won I had to run naked down the high street and if I won I got free chips for a year.

Put an awful lot of weight on that year  ;D ;D  I never did tell him I was racing the 500 at the time.

Hahaha I can't see that a stock Z would ever even stand a chance against a stock 500! They're quick cars but not bike fast. Mine will surprise alot these  days with the resto mod works thats been done underneath though  ;)

Mark - I’ve got a really nice, early CB500/4 (vin no 1414) available if you’re interested. £3995...

Thanks James, that does look stunning! I came across it in the ads sections and sadly for the same reason that you've not restored it, I couldn't bring myself to cut and modify a bike like that into a Cafe/Brat bike. It's just too good!

I guess I'm looking for a solid runner that's perhaps a little rough around the edges for me to make mistakes on. Also one that I'll feel less guilty about cutting bits off. I've not built a bike before so know that it won't be perfect and don't want to destroy a nice original example like that!

Didn't see there was a second page already, we're all clearly on the same page!

The seat is a K0 one (unique large block pattern in the cover) They usually have flattened 'panels' after almost 50 years, even NOS ones but if you look at the one on James's bike it still has the original plumped up curvy contours  on the panel sections. This makes the seay very rare, desirable and expensive.

Saying that Steve, can we have our posts 2 metres apart please, don't want to risk catching anything.

Yes, and to avoid any confusion, this is what 2 meters apart looks like........

Nah, that's not in-keeping with Gov't guidelines as it's 3 meters apart.......
