So your engine is a CB500 K1
And your frame a CB550 F3 (sorry, I typed K4 previously)
The E and the F after the numbers just mean Engine and Frame.

I should have added for anyone else that may look at this thread in the future, these engine and frame numbers relate to USA models ONLY. They have no bearing whatsoever with original UK model bikes as we have totally different models with totally different engine and frame numbers.

I have swapped and changed cb500 and 550 motors about between bikes with relative impunity regards electricals. No issues I can recall. Carbs can be a pitfall to swap about if you dont like jetting but that's part of living with a bitsa bike, seems restoration to original has similar issues.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

Cheers I have already stripped cleaned re jetted bigger set float heights. will decide later on final jetting new exhaust req
no real plan with this one. resprayed tank as a change from mechanical work, also restoring cb 72 super hawk so plenty to do ;)
