F1 top yoke fork clamp bolt
« on: May 07, 2020, 09:46:03 PM »
Hi all

I have a weird issue

I have a f1 top yoke fitted to my rickman cr750.

The manual shows the bolt as m8 56mm

The ones i have which fit perfectly  are m8 40mm

56mm will hang out miles

Is there another model or something I'm missing as i need to.replave these bolts as plating is wrecked

F1 top yoke bolt SHOULD be M7, in an effort to reduce the risk of overstressing and cracking the clamps. If a PO has drilled it to 8mm, look for another yoke to be safe as you cannot tell if it's been overstressed until it lets go, which you do not want while braking hard!

If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

Which bolt are you referring to, the one that holds the yoke to the steering stem or the pair that clamp the top of the fork legs?

Pete, consider putting the photo you put on FB of the top yoke on here, someone may be able to identify it.

This may help

Please note the similarity to the f1 yoke but not a through bolt with nut and yoke isn't machined to suggest it should be either.

Might be worth ignoring the light cluster as that may or may not be the right one for yoke as previously suggested on fb

Thanks nurse for the idea of the pic [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

The bottom one doesn't look like a f1 either.
