Clutch muscles

I've kinda accepted that walnut cracking left hand muscles are an essential part of 400/4 ownership until i spoke to a guy at a bike show who let me try his for size. His 400 was a David Silver refurb and i don't know how they did it but they have given his bike a really light clutch, though not hydraulic actuation light. Any one any ideas what the DS team have done to achieve this? I have read the advice on this and other forums re. smooth/lightish clutch action but none of it has worked for me. Thanks.

400/4's have very light clutches. Try re routing cable or buy a new one, if that doesn't help, take the actuator mechanism apart, clean all the old grease, rust and road dirt out of it, re grease and re fit.

Have just replaced clutch cable whilst doing other "lockdown" jobs. I normally replace about every 2 years, I don't think they like sitting over the top of a hot cylinder head very much. The loss of smoothness is such a slow process as not to be noticed straightaway, but when a new cable is fitted, Oh Joy!!!

Thanks for the replies guys, maybe i should see a chiropractor, could be it's just down to too many years of carrying heavy tool boxes and test equipment. Good point TM, need to consider that in future, don't like running the clutch cable round the outside of the tank, just does'nt look right.
