CB500 Make new brass tubes for float bowls
« on: May 07, 2020, 07:26:38 PM »
Hi All,
Over the years I have benefited from the great wisdom and information on this site, but never felt I had anything which might add a tad to the pool until now. While this is on a perennial subject, I hope it does bring something extra to the mix.
I’m currently restoring a 1975 500 UK bike which is something of a basket case. Loads of parts missing, many that were there were unusable or wrong and worst of all, Mr Bodgit had been there before me - but I did get it very cheap. Me thinks, not cheap enough though.
Anyway, I've had to add the rest as word doc attachments. I hope it works.

Very comperhensive writeup ... a really nice 1st post !

I converted it to a single .pdf file and stored in my Dropbox

Let's here a bit more about yourself Mark ...  pictures of project, biking history etc etc.

I did start a discussion on a fix for the main jet seling on corroded carbs but didn't want to hi-jack your thread, so I started a new  toic in 'Anoraks Corner'

Thanks Ash. I will add it to Aladdin’s Cave.

Mark - start a project thread and learn how to attach pictures. There’s a FAQ but basically you need to use “inline full sized image” from the drop down (it won’t let me set that as the default) or host pictures externally.

I have been salvaging carb bowls  for years with a slightly different method, i make the whole tube in two parts including the external part then solder together as a one piece screw in affair, it works well, a twist of ptfe tape on the thread and it stays sealed.
