Hi

Signed up to gain knowledge for future purchase of a 550 or 750. so looking forward to learning.

Last SOHC was a 400T I ran as a commuter for a few years in the 90s until the engine burnt so much oil daily and had Greenpeace camping on my drive in protest.

Currently running a 92 NC30 and 2014 Blade.  The NC took 2 years to find what I was looking for, so won’t be surprised if this search ends up the same.   Blade is getting moved on to make room in the garage.

Been running one type of Honda or another nearly continuously since late 70s, the first being a CB100N.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum from me too, love the VFRs and yours looks great - had a UK 93 Blade until March last year, it was literally a pain to ride due an old motocross injury which broke my right wrist. More upright riding for me nowadays, but despite the pain I still miss my old Blade.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks.

lovely Blade there, the early ones were really game changers.

Yep Blade fanatic here, 20 years non stop and on my 6th, but just feel it’s time to move on, got mixed feelings but been looking on and off at these bikes for around 2 years and every time I see one parked up, really feel it’s my next move.

Why don't you try and get a ride on a 550/750 to see what you think before you bin the Blade - if you are used to bikes like the Blade/NC, you will find a huge difference. Only saying because you clearly love Blades and might regret losing a bike you love. I have a 90's ZZR and the difference is massive but I use my bikes for different ride outs so appreciate the different bikes for differnt reasons.
Current Bikes:-
Honda CB750K2 (1975)
Honda CB500K2 (12/1972)
Honda CR750 Replica (1972)
Honda CB350K0 (1969)
Kawasaki ZZR1100D3 (1995)
Kawasaki ZZR250 (1990) Project (Going on eBay ASAP)

Thanks thats a very good point.

That’s the problem though, you can’t ride superbikes like they way you want to very often on public roads these days and get away with what you could say 5 or 10 years ago, attitudes have changed quickly I feel, and I am just not feeling the enjoyment of riding one like I used to, at least with the NC you can ride it 9/10ths and not cause much offence,  maybe it’s just the crowded roads in this part of the world, so it’s time to move on a experience a slightly more sedate pace and not have the frustration I am getting on a Blade nowadays.

Based on that requirement, you'll love a 550/750 - I love cruising round on my 750

Blades gone, so search on in earnest now, think I will end up going down the 750 route, but ultimately it will be the right bike at the time as always, no matter when that might be.
Not looking for a major resto, just a clean tidy bike that an be ridden.

Might sound a daft question but how long are your legs? Personal opinion only but i find the 500/550 just a bit lower and definitely lighter so more comfy at standstill and still go fast enough for you to loose a licence plus at moment frequently cheaper than 750

Funny question, but understand the reason  :)

32” inside leg, and never had an issue straddling modern superbikes and getting both feer on the ground if desired.

But definitely not discounting a 550, if it’s the right bike, at the right money I will be looking at it.
