« on: June 13, 2020, 10:29:59 AM »
Hi from land of the "concrete cows",
I am slowly restoring my 500k0 us spec
To UK spec.
Can my ill fitting  seat be refurbished? or do I have to search for an nos replica / original?
I have recovered my old 500k3 & 125k3
With good results but with the K0 l want some advise before I go down one route

Thanks

Difficult to get the correct pattern for the K0, its different from K1 and i havent seen any replacements with the built in chrome trim. You are also stuck with K0 seat due to the lock being different unless you fit the lock to go with the seat for K1

I imported some repro seat covers from Japan a few years ago and they were OK but none I have ever seen have the 'plumpy ' padding in the panels like the original. In the end I bought a dealer take off seat from David Silver.

I have known people buy NOS Genuine seats and they still don't have the original effect. I guess if Yamiya ever start doing CB500/4 parts they would come up with the correct profile as they certainly managed it with the 750K0 ducktail seat.

It beats me though why none of the makers of covers can't replicate the original texture. After all they seem to have cracked the method of heat fusing the panels in the vinyl.

The cover is wong, foam too thick as in height. Never seen a repro seat that has a metal base for a K0 yet  ;)
