distance collar for 1978 cb 550
« on: July 23, 2009, 09:43:24 AM »
After bying this bike i have done a lot of custom work and been going through and servicing everything on it. i hadnt done the rear wheel and notice that the front and rear sprokets were slightly out of line upon inspection the final driven had been rubbing up against the hub because the distance collar was missing
In the 500/550 wokshop manual on page 73 the pic with exploded view it is number 13 and is called distance collar B and in the parts list manual it is number 14 and is called collar B RR. axle distance
part no, 42625-283-000 so i will have to make one on the lathe and i obviously know the ID for axle and the OD that fits in the flange final driven bearing but i need to know the OD OF THE STEPPED UP FLANGE and HOW LONG THE STEPPED UP FLANGE ON THIS DISTANCE COLLAR IS that spaces between the hub bearing and the bearing in the ,flange final driven, as it is called in parts list so does anyone have one of these floating around that can give me the accurate measurement. would be much appreciated
cheers edd.

Make sure you get the dimensions from the correct one as the 550K3 has different spacers, hub, brakeplate etc fromall the other 500/550

thanks Bryanj
i worked out its spacing between bearings would have to be around 17mm to bring the outside of
"flange final driven" flush with the outside lip of hub
cheers

Having looked on:-

http://www.motogrid.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/parts.aspx

I was wrong, the K3 is the same as the 500, its the F thats different and it must have been one of those i had trouble with.

You should bookmark that site as you can look up part numbers on line and then cross reference to see which other Hondas they fit!!
