DSS Wiring loom
« on: June 24, 2020, 10:59:51 PM »
Hello Everyone!
Gosh It's been few years since I last worked on my Honda.

Finally decided to do a bit of a push, on electrics now...
So I got a ready made loom from DSS unfortunately since wiring on my bike has been badly butchered I'm struggling with working out what color goes where as they obviously don't match...

I wonder if anyone of you folks have a similar experience and could advice...

Also, to my untrained eye, all the wires have same thickness and I wonder should it be like this?
I have read here :) that headlight's should be thicker cable, I'm planning to go for a H4 upgrade and not sure if that's good idea.

Many thanks
G

If its a 500/550 dont go standard H4 the generator isnt man enough unless you keep the revs high.
I have heard of lower wattage H4 but not had one on my hands

Try Paul Goff @  http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/
He does a range of really bright LED headlamp bulbs suitable for our old clunkers. Paul always attends the Kempton Park Autojumble so a good excuse to pay a visit to one of the best autojumbles in the UK.
I'm going to get a full set of LED lamps for my Triton from Paul if I ever get the chrome back to finish it!

Phil, no doubt you have tons of experience!
For folks like myself without any reference points a part of badly messed up old harness it is rather tricky  ;)

I wonder if any one with new DSS harness has pictures of the connections in the lamp head?
That would be most helpful.

Thanks

I'm affraid I don't want to disturb the rats nest of wires in my headlight (you could not make any sense of the wires in a picture anyway as there is so many crammed into a tight space) but I have had no trouble matching the colours in the loom to the associated wires on switches etc. I got this from the forum (or US forum) some time ago that may help
